I am trying to figure out the best way to format my CV in a way that will include all my information in a well suited structure. Are there any tips anyone can give me for setting up my CV that have proven to be successful in the job market?

I am not familiar enough with CVs to give good advice on them, I have only had experience with resumes and they are not the same thing contrary to what people may think.
I agree about downloading a format and filling it in. CVs are a bit different from resumes and while they have generally the same purpose they function a bit differently. It is best to have a professional looking CV.
CVs are easy once you have the format and outline established. It is just a matter of filling in the blanks. Some opensource software comes with free examples for you to use so consider that as an option.
Make sure you add a personal profile near the top and don't allow it to take up too much space. This tends to be standard for all CVs not just academic ones though. Make sure to put a header above it as well.
