What are the most frequently asked questions when in a job interview that most people tend to not be prepared for? I think people tend to be prepared for the common ones but not so much the uncommon ones that catch them off guard.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
The first time I was asked that in an interview I froze and said "I honestly don't know.". It not only took me by surprise but costed me the position as they went with hiring someone else.
I noticed a lot of people doing interviews will commonly ask “what salary are you accustomed to?” and this kind of question gauges what kind of lifestyle you live as well as what you expect to earn.
There are a number of questions that are asked in almost every interview. Most are common sense ones that apply to the job itself directly. I think it is better to focus on questions that aren’t so common.
I knew someone who handled interviews where he worked and he would often ask people different questions according to their mood and how they carried themselves. He liked to test a person’s character by being unexpected so that is something to consider.
One that I got asked all the time was “How do you handle pressure?”. The reason why this one was common was because of the jobs I was applying for. A lot of them being office jobs with deadlines and tasks that need to be done on time daily.
